What to expect?
We will begin with a free-of-charge phone conversation (15 minutes). Therapy starts with a package of 5 sessions: an intake session online or face-to-face, to gather information, discuss the therapeutical steps, and set the goals and the administrative details. Afterward, there will be 3 assessment sessions, to have a clearer perspective on the socio-emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development of the client, the attachment, temperament and personality style, resources, and vulnerabilities. The 5th session is to offer feedback, set the therapeutical goals together, agree on the needed type of intervention (individual / parent-child centered), the number of sessions, etc.
After the 5 sessions package, we will start the therapeutical intervention, focusing first on Building a strong therapeutical relationship, based on trust, communication, availability, and respect. Afterward, we will focus on Exploring behavioral patterns, lifestyle, needs, emotional reactions, etc. The next phase is Growing, where we focus on transformation, learning new skills, practicing new behaviors, reorienting, etc. The last phase of the therapy is called the Closing, where we can see that the client's behavioral and emotional functioning have stabilized to the point that we are confident in their ability to maintain those gains without regular play therapy sessions; where the client transferred the new skills, abilities in his day-to-day life. The last phase is very important as it offers a chance to experience a healthy closure to relationships and to move on independently.
